"I want to bring the focus back to where it should be, on the residents."
Growing up, William was always driven towards giving back and began volunteering for local organizations and non-profits. Eventually, he joined his local neighborhood civic association, where he collaborated with other residents to better his community and advocate for residents.
Choosing to enter a career in public service, William went to work for the Boston Public School system, where he spent six years working Technology Specialist. After leaving BPS, William moved on to a local conservation non-profit where he currently serves as IT Director.
William decided to run for office because he believes the residents of District 6 deserve a City Councilor who is committed to fighting for them. If elected, he would bring the council’s focus back where it should be, on constituent services, ensuring he is active and present in every part of the district fighting for the issues important to residents.
William currently lives in West Roxbury with his wife Domonique and their dog Brandy.
If elected, constituent services will be at the heart of everything William does. He will ensure that he is active and present in every part of the district, talking to and hearing from residents, and then showing up daily at City Hall to advocate on their behalf. He knows their communities face real issues that need to be addressed, from schools to crime, public works to transportation, and so much more. While they may not always agree, he believes they can always find common ground and work together to provide actual results for their constituents.
At the end of the day, William believes the voters deserve a choice in the upcoming election. If they want a City Councilor dedicated to working for them, committed to solving the pressing issues facing their communities, and focused on delivering actual results, then he hopes he can count on their support.
The high cost of housing in Boston is a significant concern for many residents. As a city, we must focus on implementing policies that increase the housing supply, reduce barriers to building new homes, and incentivize developers to build more affordable units.
William is committed to finding solutions to make it easier for people in our city to find and stay in safe, affordable, and secure housing.
If elected, William will:
Push to build more affordable and middle-income units across the city, specifically focusing on family-centered multi-bedroom units.
Work to stabilize the ever-rising cost of rent by increasing rental assistance programs and strengthening tenant protections.
Expand the city’s first-time home buyer programs, which offer opportunities for residents to qualify for low mortgage rates when purchasing their first home.
After years of disinvestment and a lack of proper planning, our current public school system is not up to par, and as a result, our students are suffering. Investing in public education is critical for the future of our city.
William is committed to ensuring that our public schools have the resources they need to provide every child, regardless of zip code, with access to the best education possible.
If elected, William will:
Increase access to early childhood education opportunities and expand after-school programs, which can make a tremendous difference in a child’s future success and help working parents.
Invest in our schooling facilities to ensure all students access high-quality, sustainable buildings, safe learning environments, clean grounds, and healthy air and water quality.
Push to modernize our classrooms, investing in new technologies to help our kids learn while ensuring our teachers have all the resources they need to provide the best education possible.
To have true public safety, we must work with first responders, community organizations, and residents alike to ensure we keep our communities safe while implementing needed reforms.
William is committed to ensuring that all of our residents feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods.
If elected, William will:
Strengthen community policing initiatives and ensure our first responders have the resources they need to keep our communities and residents safe.
Fight to expand access to recovery and mental health services to help those most in need.
Prioritize investments in community-based programs that address the root cause of violence, and provide trauma counseling and opportunities to at-risk youth.
Public transportation is a critical part of any city’s infrastructure, and Boston is no exception, yet for years we have witnessed the almost total collapse of our current transit system. In addition to its unreliability, many of the communities across District 6 have little to no access to public transit at all.
William is committed to working with the state and MBTA to ensure that our public transportation system is safe, reliable, and accessible to all.
If elected, William will:
Push for a comprehensive plan for public transportation that does not simply focus on temporary fixes to the system, as is currently done, but prioritizes long-term goals to both repairs what is broken and invest for the future.
Ensure that there is an actual robust community process when it comes to implementing new infrastructure projects, such as the new bike lanes on Centre Street where many residents felt their voices were not heard.
Explore ways to lower the cost of public transportation, focusing on seniors, students, and other income-restricted residents.
Climate change poses a significant threat to every community in our city. We have already seen countless examples of its devastating effects, and in order to prevent further issues, we must take immediate action to protect our environment and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
William is committed to working towards policies that prioritize renewable energy development, investing in green infrastructure projects, and fighting to reduce carbon emissions.
If elected, William will:
Take a community-based approach to fighting environmental injustices by building diverse coalitions and partnerships to do the work hand-in-hand with residents, communities, and advocates.
Fight for greener, environmentally sustainable development across our city by pushing for a thoughtful planning process that prioritizes climate resiliency and leverages development to deliver on things like greener buildings and more open space.
Work to encourage businesses to reduce emissions by implementing a fair and effective carbon pricing mechanism, which will incentivize companies to adopt cleaner technologies and practices while generating funds that can be reinvested into environmental initiatives.
